All K-12 students & staff in Moore County receive $5 off registration fees, applicable only via paper registration form.

8:15 a.m. – Leprechaun Leap 1 mile Fun Run
8:45 a.m. – Lucky Charms Costume Contest
9:15 a.m. – 5K start
9:20 a.m. – 10K start immediately following 5K start

Road closings will begin around 6:30 a.m. on race morning. Parking will be available near the start lines at the Whispering Pines police station, 14 Hardee Lane. Restrooms available at the police station. Exiting from the police station parking will be limited until 5K/10K runners have cleared roads at 9:30.

Roads will be marked well–Hardee Lane via Airport Rd. will be closed on race morning–parking on Hardee will be accessible via Niagara-Carthage Rd.

For your safety, police will not allow parking on Niagara-Carthage Rd. Additional parking opportunities will be marked, if needed.

Whether you run or walk, participation is great for your health, fun for you and your friends and YOU play a BIG, HUGE part in raising money for YOUR school and teachers who can apply for grants from race proceeds.


Roads will be marked and course marshals will help along the way. Familiarize yourself with your route and as always, Whispering Pines welcomes you to try out the courses leading up to race day.  Click here for course details and maps.


What are the award categories

The 5k and 10k will have the following award categories:

Top Male/Female Overall
Top 3 Male/Female in the following age groups:
Under 11, 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

The 1 mile will have the following award categories:

12 years and under only:  First 3 males, First 3 females


Can I wear headphones/music

It is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/ her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers.

Can someone else run in my place?
No, you are not allowed to transfer bib numbers.
Can I register on race day?
Yes, you can register on race day. Please be aware that shirts can only be guaranteed to those registered by 03/01
Are walkers allowed in the race?
Yes! We love walkers and runners
Are bikes, baby joggers, strollers or pets allowed during the race?
You are welcome to run with your baby jogger, we just ask you start near the back of the pack. We do ask that you keep your pets and bikes at home for this event.

The Convention & Visitor’s Bureau has negotiated the attached hotel rates for those needing accommodations.
